Harry Klary runs things for us across Europe, and he is not easily impressed. So he did the obvious thing: took the VQ up a 20km alpine trail in Styria, two riders aboard and well over 200kg between them, and pointed it at the kind of mountain that finds out what a machine is really made of.
The VQ climbed the lot and rolled back down to the valley with a third of its charge still in hand. Nothing overheated, nothing complained, nothing that needed nursing.
And it did it in good company, alongside a group of petrol machines, on the same trail, at the same pace, start to finish.
There is something satisfying about a British-built electric quad holding its own halfway up an Austrian mountain. Harry thought so too.
